“Ah… ACE” is common in every gym the Rolla Lady Pirate’s volleyball team has competed in so far. Their record is 8-1 as they took down Guymon, Ashland, Kinsley, Tribune, Dighton, Golden Plains, Ingalls, and Moscow, only falling to Elkhart.
As is common with new seasons, there are new goals and accomplishments. “This year we have worked harder as a team. We have the ability to do so whether we are winning or losing. We have also acquired many new dance skills,” sophomore Jade G. responded when asked about undertakings so far. Junior Isidra V. also said, “We are working together this year. We are covering and being there for each other on and off the court.”
This year’s team is fairly young, consisting of only three seniors. Three juniors, 6 sophomores, and 8 freshmen make up the rest of Rolla’s team. There are plenty of girls on the team and JV has a full schedule. Freshman, Casey B. commented, “Going from junior high to high school is a huge transition. You concentrate on only a few positions and must learn them well. It can be way more confusing. My favorite part of volleyball is the warm-up agility drills.”
