Keeping Tradition

One year down, many more to go… On October 1, 2006, Mrs. Pat DeGarmo declared ownership of the infamous Corner Stop. This small convenience store has been a historical landmark, working for the community, for many years. Apart from providing groceries and utilities, the Corner Stop provides job opportunities for the community, is a main social spot for the latest news, and adds a little spice to the small town of Rolla.
Before Mrs. DeGarmo took over, the Elkhart Coop was in charge of managing and running the Corner Stop. After the termination of the Rolla branch Coop Station, this establishment was also left ownerless. Luckily, Pat DeGarmo generously donated her time and money to keep this tradition alive.
In celebration, the Corner Stop provided free hot dogs, chips, and fountain drinks for the community of Rolla in appreciation for all their support. Several groups of students, along with many citizens of Rolla, stopped by to congratulate and share in the celebration. Mrs. DeGarmo stated, “This past year has been really amazing. I enjoy seeing familiar and new faces each day. I want to thank the community for their continued support.”
